Shestakov highlighted Belarus’s diplomatic engagement with Colombia, noting that the country opened its embassy in Bogotá six years ago. He emphasized that diplomatic missions are carefully selected to ensure they bring tangible economic and political benefits. The embassy’s establishment signifies Belarus’s commitment to strengthening trade and economic ties with Colombia.

“We hold Colombia in high regard and recognize its significant role as a regional leader and major South American economy,” Shestakov stated. He outlined that the two countries are currently in discussions to establish assembly operations for Belarusian machinery in Colombia, specifically for complex technical equipment. He expressed confidence that these plans would be successful.

In addition to trade discussions, Shestakov praised the strong political relationship between the two nations, stating that there are no issues between them. The Belarusian embassy in Colombia is functioning effectively, fostering high-level diplomatic contacts. He expressed hope for continued success in the near future through their joint efforts.

Earlier reports indicated that Belarus and Colombia have signed an agreement to waive visa requirements for short-term travel, which will take effect in 30 days.
