Reinke Introduces Advanced E3 Irrigation System for Precision Watering

Reinke Manufacturing is set to launch its latest innovation this spring — the E3, a next-generation center-pivot irrigation system that promises to redefine precision in water application for agricultural fields. The Nebraska-based company claims the E3 will be the most advanced irrigation machine on the market, thanks to its highly uniform outlet spacing and cutting-edge technology.

Chris Roth, President of Reinke Manufacturing, explains that the E3’s standout feature is its consistent outlet spacing, which spans evenly from the pivot center to the end boom or swing-arm corner. “This system ensures precise water application from the start to the end, offering either 30-inch or 60-inch spacing with even distribution across the tower tops — an area that has traditionally been a challenge for irrigation systems,” Roth says.

The E3 is designed as the first precision series to feature spans and end booms with uniform coupler spacing, a critical factor in achieving consistent water coverage across varying field sizes. Technical Sales Manager Jake Beam adds that while other machines offer uniform spacing, the E3 will be the first to offer customizable designs to meet specific field needs, such as adjustable span sizes, lengths, and pipe sizes.

The new irrigation system will be available in working widths ranging from 80 feet to 220 feet, in 20-foot increments, with the popular 175-foot size also included. Other enhancements include maintenance-free bearings, V-ring seals that maintain uninterrupted water flow and resist UV damage, and the ReinLock anti-racking truss system designed for added strength when traversing uneven terrain.

Additionally, the E3 can be equipped with Reinke’s innovative swing-arm system, which effectively irrigates field corners. Beam highlights the significant advancement with the electronic swing arm (ESAC), stating, “These machines are smart — they know their exact location, the area they cover, and how much water to apply. It’s been a game changer for ensuring uniformity under the swing arm.”

Given that every farm has unique irrigation needs, most systems require customization, including selecting the right materials to cope with local water quality. Roth notes that while galvanized machines remain the most common, customers can choose from materials like Corten steel, aluminum, or stainless steel, depending on water conditions and soil type.

Beam emphasizes that optimal water distribution is key to maximizing yields. He explains that longer systems, like a quarter-mile pivot, require careful water demand adjustments to maintain consistent coverage. “Uniform spacing allows for a steady increase in nozzle size, preventing gaps in water coverage and boosting yield consistency,” Beam says.

The E3’s advanced digital operating system also offers a user-friendly interface, enabling growers to make irrigation decisions from their smartphones. Integrated with soil moisture sensors, the system provides real-time data and actionable insights. “Through our partnership with CropX, users can get notifications like ‘Irrigate now,’ along with specifics on moisture levels and irrigation needs,” Beam adds.

Roth also stresses the importance of precise water control for long-term efficiency, noting that telematics play a vital role in modern irrigation systems. For farmers contemplating an upgrade, Beam advises that a lack of uniformity in water distribution is a clear indicator that it’s time for a new system. “Monitor pressure changes at the center point monthly. If those fluctuate significantly, it may indicate water is not being distributed properly,” he warns.

With its combination of advanced technology, customizable features, and precise water application, the E3 aims to deliver greater efficiency and higher yields for growers across diverse agricultural environments.
