PIXARGUS Upgrades AllRounDia DV for Enhanced Inline Inspection

by Annie

PIXARGUS has introduced a significant upgrade to its AllRounDia DV system, enabling high-precision inspection of round products up to 70 mm in diameter. By integrating proven ProfilControl 7 technology, the enhanced system offers continuous surface and diameter inspection of tubes and hoses during the extrusion process.

The upgrade sets new industry standards with a combination of compact design, time-saving Plug & Play functionality, and advanced two-in-one technology. It enhances defect detection performance through expanded analysis tools, improved automation, and superior defect recognition capabilities.

Advanced Defect Tracking and Live Imaging

The upgraded AllRounDia DV now allows real-time monitoring with an optional 21.5-inch external display, providing a more detailed view of identified flaws. Unlike conventional schematic defect views, the system leverages ProfilControl 7 software to display real-time camera images for more precise defect analysis.

Defect tracking has also seen a major performance boost. Instead of the previous limit of five defects, operators can now review up to twenty past defects in ongoing production, with identification of the specific camera that recorded each flaw. Additionally, the new replay function enables operators to assess surface, roughness, and defect characteristics by replaying camera footage.

Optimized Automation and Process Control

The AllRounDia DV’s integrated section tracking feature automates defect and batch reporting. By interfacing with the main extrusion line through OPC-UA or direct IO wiring, the system assigns detected defects to specific coils and calculates their positions relative to the coiled product’s head end. This enables manufacturers to efficiently remove defective material during subsequent processing, reducing waste and cost.

The system also includes an encoder, optimizing its functionality for varying extrusion line speeds.

Operator Oversight and Real-World Application

With the SCADA Log module, AllRounDia DV securely records all operator interactions with the inspection system, ensuring traceability of settings and adjustments.

Becker Plastics, a German manufacturer, has implemented the system to meet stringent quality control requirements. Pierre Baranowski, Head of Operations at Becker Plastics, emphasizes the system’s value: “Recognizing defects and their sources early in production allows us to take immediate corrective action. PIXARGUS’ inspection system provides us with the best possible support.”

With these enhancements, PIXARGUS reinforces its commitment to delivering cutting-edge, high-performance inspection solutions for the extrusion industry.
