Tambo Memorial Hospital has enhanced its radiology department with the introduction of two advanced digital X-ray machines: the Radspeed Pro HC (65kw) and the Fujifilm FDR Smart FGX-685. These state-of-the-art machines are designed to optimize imaging quality and speed, transforming the diagnostic process for patients.
Hospital officials highlighted that the new technology improves diagnostic accuracy, leading to more tailored treatment plans. The machines feature ceiling-mounted tubes and detectors that track patients during scans, ensuring a smoother and faster procedure.
By replacing outdated models, the hospital aims to improve patient care, reduce waiting times, and enhance overall operational efficiency. According to Nzeku, one of the key benefits of the new equipment is its ability to minimize X-ray exposure, making the procedure safer and more comfortable for patients.
One patient, Gwala, shared his experience after injuring his hand while working on his car. He underwent a swift and efficient X-ray process that took just 20 minutes from start to finish. “It only took about 10 minutes for the scan and another 10 minutes to get the images. I was able to go back to the doctor for my report,” he said.
Radiographer Gladys Setou also praised the new equipment, emphasizing its user-friendly interface and exceptional image quality. “The machines not only provide digital images but also offer low radiation exposure and outstanding image quality,” she said. “They are easy to use and offer a much better experience for both patients and healthcare providers, making it easier for us and speeding up the diagnosis process, allowing doctors to make quicker, more informed decisions.”
