India emerged as the largest buyer at the 2025 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), which took place from March 3 to 8 at Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei. The event, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in collaboration with the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, attracted over 4,160 buyers from 90 countries, who conducted business with over 1,000 exhibitors.

This year’s attendance saw a 5.1% increase compared to the 2023 edition of the biennial event. According to TAITRA, the five leading countries in terms of business deals were India, Japan, China, South Korea, and Malaysia.

TAITRA attributed the rise in international participation to the growing demand for advanced smart technologies and the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence (AI) in the manufacturing sector.

The 2025 TIMTOS was centered around the theme “AI and Robotics” and highlighted six key trends shaping the machinery industry: precision machine tools, critical components, full-scale automation, digital twin-driven integration, additive manufacturing, and expanded cross-industry applications.

In addition, the Taiwan Patent Go Pavilion, established by the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, aimed to help local suppliers attract potential partners, particularly from countries such as India and Vietnam.

International visitors explored more than 6,100 booths at the show, testing innovations in industries including aerospace, semiconductors, electric vehicles, healthcare, and green energy.

TAITRA confirmed that the next TIMTOS will be held in March 2027.
