Sprintex Secures $6.3M Deal to Combat Ammonia Emissions in Dutch Agriculture

by Annie

Australian clean air technology firm Sprintex has announced a $6.3 million (€3.8M) purchase order for its compressor systems aimed at reducing ammonia emissions in the Netherlands, marking a significant breakthrough in European agricultural sustainability.

The agreement, disclosed in an ASX announcement, will see 200 Sprintex-Mest compressor units deployed across Dutch farms. Each unit, priced at $31,000, will be produced at Mest Water’s newly established 31,000m² facility in Tubbergen.

“Walking through rural towns in the Netherlands, it’s striking how prevalent ammonia emissions are in the air — it’s something that millions of people are exposed to daily,” said Sprintex CEO Jay Upton. “We are proud to be part of Mest Water’s groundbreaking solution, delivering technology that reduces emissions and transforms waste into valuable resources.”

Scaling Up Production

Manufacturing is set to begin in March, with an initial output of 30 units per month. By 2026, production is expected to reach at least 1,000 units annually, potentially generating $31 million in revenue.

Mest Water CEO Arjan Mensink highlighted the significance of the development, calling it the culmination of nine years of research in manure processing. “Our patented ZLD-Up system represents the most advanced solution available today,” he said.

Broader Impact Across Europe

The initiative aligns with the European Union’s strict ammonia emission regulations under the National Emission Reduction Commitments Directive. As regulatory pressures mount, demand for innovative emissions-reduction technologies like Sprintex’s system is expected to grow across the EU.
