CANNON Expands Machinery Portfolio with Polytec EMC Engineering Acquisition

by Annie

CANNON has reinforced its position in the composites industry with the acquisition of Polytec EMC Engineering, enhancing its machinery portfolio to better serve both high-volume and low-to-medium-volume composite manufacturers. This strategic expansion enables CANNON to offer a more diverse range of innovative solutions and machinery tailored to various composite manufacturing processes, while strengthening its global presence and service capabilities.

With the integration of Polytec EMC Engineering’s technology, CANNON now provides an enhanced suite of products, including the CANNON Polytec DG 103 and DG 108 equipment:

Dosing Units for Filament Winding Machines: These units ensure precise matrix dosing and impregnation for composite structures, with typical applications including pressure vessels, tubular components, and rollers for the paper industry.

Dosing and Mixing Systems for Pultrusion: Designed to support the production of high-strength composite profiles, these systems are ideal for structural frames, wind blade spar-caps, and automotive sub-components.

Infusion Machines for Light Resin Transfer Molding (L-RTM) and Vacuum Resin Transfer Molding (V-RTM): These machines are perfect for producing large, complex composite components at low-to-medium manufacturing volumes using various thermoset resins.

Additionally, the CANNON Polytec DG 200 series introduces dosing and mixing machines for caprolactam, which ensure efficient and precise polymerization processes even at high temperatures—vital for applications requiring specific plastic features, especially in rotational casting.

These new offerings complement CANNON’s existing portfolio, which includes high-tonnage presses, molds, automation systems, performers, and high-pressure dosing units for applications in polyurethane, epoxy, and pDCPD, such as DXI for vacuum resin infusion, E-System for HP-RTM and WCM processes, and A-Compact HT for RIM coating and HP-RTM components.

By combining its expertise in composite technologies with an expanded product line, CANNON now offers manufacturers a comprehensive, high-quality portfolio supported by a global service network.

At JEC World 2025, CANNON will showcase the DG 108 casting machine for elastomers and L-RTM, a compact and mobile unit designed for both casting and spraying applications with hot and cold processed materials at temperatures up to 60°C. The DG 108 is flexible, with an easily adjustable mixing ratio and variable output of up to 6 kg/min. Its small footprint, tank capacities ranging from 16 to 60 litres, and ease of maneuverability make it ideal for small-scale production and adaptable manufacturing setups.

This expansion further solidifies CANNON’s leadership in composite manufacturing solutions.
