Nigeria has welcomed its first delivery of Belarusian agricultural machinery, which includes 2,000 tractors and over 9,000 pieces of farming equipment. This shipment marks a significant milestone in a broad cooperation agreement between Nigeria and Belarus, aimed at modernizing the country’s agricultural sector.

The delivery, which took place under the framework of an agreement signed in September 2024, represents a critical step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to advance its agricultural capabilities. Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, confirmed the arrival, emphasizing that the partnership with Belarus will support the transition to mechanized agriculture. The goal is to boost food production, enhance farming efficiency, and improve overall agricultural practices in the country.

The initiative is designed to provide Nigerian farmers with access to state-of-the-art machinery, helping to increase crop yields and productivity. Beyond equipment, the agreement also includes training programs by Belarusian experts, aimed at enhancing the skills of Nigerian farmers in mechanized farming techniques. This collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.
