Kubota Tractor Corp. introduced the new MX4900 at the 2025 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, positioning it as a more affordable option within the company’s MX series lineup. The MX4900 brings a range of features designed to meet the needs of farmers, ranchers, municipalities, and other users, all while maintaining a competitive price.
“This model is the lowest horsepower offering in the MX series, but it retains the same robust chassis, ensuring it delivers the same performance features—like loader capabilities and hydraulic flow—as its higher-powered counterparts,” said Tyler Weyenberg, Kubota product manager. “While it excels at most tasks, it’s not designed for heavy PTO work, such as brush cutting.”
Powertrain Options
The MX4900 offers two transmission choices: a gear drive transmission with a 50.3-horsepower turbocharged engine and eight forward/reverse speeds, and a hydrostatic transmission (HST) model with a 51.8-hp turbocharged engine and three-range speed. Both models are equipped with Kubota’s advanced diesel engine and Common-Rail System (CRS) with electronically controlled fuel injection.
“The HST model is incredibly user-friendly,” Weyenberg noted. “It even includes standard cruise control for added convenience.”
Operator Comfort and Design
The MX4900 prioritizes operator comfort, with both ROPS and cab models featuring simplified controls. Key comfort features include a spacious operator station, an optional suspension air ride seat with armrests for the cab model, and standard rubber floor mats. The cab model also offers heating, air conditioning, and optional rear defogger and wiper systems for optimal weather control.
Kubota also introduced optional dealer-installed LED lighting kits for enhanced visibility.
Advanced Loader Capabilities
The MX4900 is compatible with the LA1065A front loader, which was specifically designed, built, and manufactured by Kubota. The loader boasts a high lift capacity, impressive breakout force, and the ability to perform simultaneous lift and dump actions, enhancing overall productivity.
“The regenerative loader valves are one of my favorite features,” said Weyenberg. “They enable operators to lift and curl simultaneously, and when paired with the HST, it makes loader tasks both efficient and enjoyable.”
The LA1065A loader also includes a standard two-lever quick coupler, which allows users to easily attach or detach additional front attachments, such as grapple buckets or bale spears, reducing time spent switching between tools.
Kubota’s MX4900 tractor provides a cost-effective yet versatile option for those seeking a reliable machine for a wide variety of agricultural and municipal tasks.
